What Is A Sheep Like?

I was born on the Year of the Sheep (never mind what year that was... ...), the 8th of 12 cycles in Chinese Astrology. They say those born under the sign of the Sheep are nurturers because they enjoy taking care of other people. I guess that is true. I find much fulfillment taking care of the most important people in my life right now- my parents and my 3 fast-growing kids.

Here's more: Sheep people are pretty calm individuals. Their personalities are quiet, reserved and soothing. They like to be in the company of others but do not wish to be in the middle of everything. They like standing in the back, watching contently from the sidelines, as others dazzle the company. Sheep will do generally better than they are aware because they are good at keeping the peace and accomplishing the tasks at hand.

Yes, I basically love maintaining the peace and would settle for status quo if that serves everyone best even though I am hurting inside. I would prefer to keep quiet rather than hurt someone else's feelings.

But being the Fire Sheep that I am, I am also capable of taking care of myself, standing up for myself and putting myself first. I generally enjoy a tight circle of friends and family and, yes, the social limelight.

And when East (Cancer) meets West (Sheep), you get not only a kind, genuine and gentle friend but a humorous and sociable companion (my Gemini side on Gemini-Cancer cusp) as well. The Cancerian Sheep people can pressure themselves about being able to support their families BUT ALWAYS PUT FAMILY FIRST.

Now, doesn't that sound too perfect? Well, think again...

A Sheep has negative traits too and they don't sound pretty at all. They are self-pitying, pessimistic, fugitive (does that mean running away from problems? because I am so good at it!), lazy, indecisive (yeah, the most fickle-minded person you've ever met), contentious, capricious (very impulsive, mind you), irresponsible, tardy (oh yes!!!!!!!!!! that's part of being irresponsible), careless, narrow-minded, nasty little pieces of work.

I left out the part that says Sheep people are parasitic, violent and vengeful because I know I have long gotten over those traits. But yes, they are in the books.
